Improve your home with windows, siding, and doors.

There are a ton of ways to improve your home on a daily basis. You can touch up paint, fix small holes in the walls, dust, vacuum, and so much more. These things may or may not involve you putting some sweat labor back into your home. I’m all for fixing things in my house when they are not working properly–to an extent. Sometimes I don’t have the necessary skill set to do all the home improvement projects myself. Even if I did, I’m not sure I would have all the tools needed to complete bigger projects.

Big Projects

When it comes to bigger projects like Windows, Siding, and Doors I’m truly not sure if I could ever complete these myself. For one, I’m not a big do-it-yourself kind of person and, for two, I tend to be a bit clumsy and stumble through directions– sorry to anybody at work reading this article. Plus, with new Windows, Siding, and Doors, why would you want a novice getting the job done anyway? I’ve said this in previous article but it stands to be reiterated; windows, siding and doors are only as energy efficient and safe as the person installing them made them to be. You could have the most energy efficient windows on the market, but if they are not installed correctly, they won’t make a bit of difference.

Can You Install The Windows Yourself?

I didn’t even think to try and install the windows myself, and that’s because I want them to look professional and nice. There was no way I was getting up on a ladder increasing my odds of being injured because I injured myself on a daily basis. I’ve tripped, stumbled, and just basically fallen down since I was little. I wish this weren’t the case, but everybody knows there has to be some people out there who make other people laugh and that’s basically me.

The point to all of my rambling on is that if you hire a professional company (ahem, Conservation Construction) that can install the windows, siding and doors for you, you won’t have to lift a finger and it’ll get done the right way the first time. This truly could save you money. I’ll give you an example of this coming from my own life . . .

Doing The Project Yourself . . .

I truly adore the brand of clothing called Free People. Although their name suggests that they are quite an inexpensive company to buy close from i.e. “Free People” they are one of the more expensive stores to buy things from. I saw a dress on their website one day which was $95. That’s a heck of a lot of money for one piece of clothing, but I had to have it!

Luckily for me, I had just received a sewing machine for Christmas that year. In an attempt to “Save Some Money” I decided to take a picture of the dress and go to the fabric store and make the dress myself. After an entire two days of laying out the pattern, cutting, sewing, stitching, crying, sweating, and screaming, the dress didn’t turn out. No, truly, I couldn’t even get the dress to turn inside out because my stitches had sewn the sleeves inside the garment. I cried so much and was so mad that my husband said I could just buy the dress from Free People.

So not only did I spend $48 on all the fabric and two entire days trying to make the dress, I ended up spending the $95 dollars anyway. We’ve all been through a similar lesson like this in the past I’m sure. You live, you learn, and then you just kind of cave to the things you don’t want to have to slave over.

Don’t make make installing windows, siding or doors one of the things you stress and slave labor over. Get a professional team that does the job right!
