New Window Safety

Welcome to another article. We thought we’d start the week with an article about window safety! How safe are your current windows? Are new windows more safe than old windows? Windows rank as one of the top five hidden hazards in the home, and it’s for this reason that you should keep them in mind as your next home improvement project.  Keep reading to learn more.

My Personal Experience

I can tell you from personal experience the locks on all my windows from the 1980’s were either broken or dysfunctional. When I finally got the windows replaced, the windows came out so easily from the frames it was shocking that no one had broken in before. Take it from someone who didn’t even know how compromised her house was, replace your windows now before something bad happens.

How Safe Are Your Old Windows

Old windows which have gone past the 20 year mark should be replaced right away. Very old windows which are already cracked or broken are not able to keep your home safe. If it’s not obvious, old locks which don’t even engage are just not safe to keep in place. At any point in time someone could see these vulnerabilities and use them against you.

Why are new windows safe?

Top locks on new windows designs, including the windows we sell at Conservation Construction of Houston, are safer. Because they sit on the top of the window this means that they are not able to be accessed on the outside of the home. If you have old locks which sit on the bottom of the window, just know they are easier to break into. Windows from Conservation Construction of Houston are designed with a two point locking system. This means that the locks must be pushed in while being turned to ensure that only the person standing on the inside of the home could open them. What this equates to is a more secure and safe home for you and your family.

Professional Installation

Conservation Texas Window Frames are professionally installed so every piece of the window is secure and strong. Our team of experts have decades of installing windows to ensure their longevity, beauty, and security. This means these windows truly hold up to unwanted guests.

Final Thoughts

If you do have very old windows just keep in mind that they may not be very safe to keep. Your house may be vulnerable if your locks don’t engage or are very old. Window locks on the bottom of the window are old designs and can compromise the overall safety of your home. New locks which sit on the top of the windows are safer and harder to unlock from the outside. Expertly installed windows are safe and secure and protect your home better against forced entry and outside elements.
